Devilish Glamour

One of the earliest highlights of my career as a fashion assistant was being the assigned dresser for Hollywood heavyweight, Malcolm McDowell on a film I worked on last December. Being my first feature film I was quite nervous. My assignment was simple. Dress Malcolm in a clean black V-neck t-shirt, an Ermengildo Zegna suit, clean black socks, and custom-made leather Converse shoes by the time he was due to get make up done. That’s how it usually works. Wardrobe/costume first and then make-up. I talk a lot about eye-opening experiences on this blog and how often shoots or making films lead me to such events and nothing is further from the truth. You realise that every film or fashion spread you’ve seen, so many people behind the scenes have exhausted themselves to create an image.

Before I get any heavier, the film I worked on finally premiered last Wednesday the 4th of August at Fox Studios, Moore Park. Of course I attended, and the beautiful Sam Choy too. Accompanying Lenya and Shane. The red carpet demands a certain degree of fashion and I hope Sam and I haven’t disappointed. Enjoy the happy snaps!
