Held in downtown NYC, the city which is most reminiscent of Batman’s Gotham City, Manuel De La Cruz’ S/S11 Collection was cut for fashion superheros…and/or fashionistas with a little bit of villian in them. Not that that’s a bad thing. The presentation and production value was outstanding. The models all lined up in a slick row where villianous violets, Batman blacks and coats cut to perfection stood before a ‘Gotham’ fashion crowd. De La Cruz certainly had a vision, a vision which I am sure will resonate with New Yorkers.
I have personally been surprised by the quality of the menswear here at NYFW. Extremely wearable and practical for this intense city but so chic and still so fashionable. I even brought Samuel Choy with me to the presentation and he agreed that he would wear the menswear in the collection. Also noticeable at NYFW compared to RAFW is the quality put behind the casting of the models and the effort put into the production of shows and presentations. I mean I know its NEW YORK FASHION WEEK but this high standard is the reason why NYFW is one of the best ready-to-wear/couture fashion weeks to attend. Wintour has set the standard high. I am so blessed that I am attending S/S 11.
As always I will let the images speak for themselves.
Gotham Chic yes?
