PRADA MENSWEAR FALL/WINTER 12-13 NEW CAMPAIGN!!! Featuring Willem Dafoe and Gary Oldman and photographed by David Sims.
Winter is here for Australian fashionistos and yes, all the major fashion houses are starting to drop their pre-fall and early picking of their FW12/13 in store. I’m sharing with you my favourite collection for FW 12/13. And of course there was no bias involved.
I thrill at the fact that the cold season will feature astrakhan collared coats, double collars, double-breasted suits buttoned high, pinstriped jackets with a flower in the buttonhole and bendy butanol-soled oxfords. Of course this well all trickle down too through the “cerulean effect – I just wonder which details the high street will pick up.
Exciting stuff, no? I love that red collared shirt with the negative and positive gun print!!!! Power dressing for the man is back!!!!

There is nothing better for a fashionist(eau) than to own a piece from the runway. A runway piece heralds a fashion house’s creativity, identity and sense of uniqueness. Here are my favourite pieces from Spring Summer 12.
Okay so the last image is almost impossible but a gay boy can dream, right?
Rumour has it some of these pieces will be on sale very soon. So keep your fingers firm on the fashion pulse!

Menswear fashion show by British designer Dale Cavana whose clientele were predominantly gay men. Have things really changed?
A couple of weeks ago was my first time EVER in Melbourne. I know right!!! Having lived in Australia for 99% of my life – the fact that I had never been to Melbourne is quite dismal. Nevertheless I managed to make it down there for work. I got to meet the amazing people that work at the Collins St boutique and also catch up with my best friend who is studying texttiles at RMIT. Not to mention…have dinner with Henry Ng of Orri Henrisson fame. However I did not shop (a trip to Melbourne is a must shop…) I was instead enjoying the food, the drinks and the culture of Sydney’s rival city.
If in Melbourne, you must:
-Have cocktails at Manchuria
-Shop at GPO
-Eat burgers at Huxtaburger
-Check out the State Library … it’s absolutely beautiful!!
Now that the glitter of FASHION MONTH has settled, we can look back and breakdown what FW12 (which for us Australians is only a couple of months away!) will all be about. If you haven’t been paying attention, the pantsuit is here. And if bias has nothing to do with it my favourite for the season was Miu Miu FW12/13. Mama Miuccia never fails with the prints she puts on the runway – they’re vintage but they are timeless. Some may call it the unheralded return of the seventies, see Prada SS12 floral prints, Prada FW12 geometric prints and now Miu Miu FW12 oriental prints. They are just the right boost of colour and excitement for a season known for its fab but drab tones. Oh and how about that silhouette swagger a la Bianca Jagger?? “Menswear” has never looked so good on a woman!
Now it’s my turn to shoosh and let the pictures do the talking 😉

I need to be in NYC for this. Even if it is just two days to spend walking through this exhibition. Get me to NEW YORK CITY! Surrealism and avant-garde fashion kiss as the Met hosts the designs of fashion’s two most powerful Italian lady designers – Elsa Schiaparelli and Miuccia Prada.
From the Met press release: “The exhibition will explore how both women employed unconventional textiles, colors, and prints to play with conventional ideas of good and bad taste, and how they exploited whimsical fastenings, fanciful trompe l’oeil details, and deliberately rudimentary embroideries for strange and provocative outcomes. Experimental technologies and modes of presentation will bring together masterworks from the designers in an unexpected series of conversations on the relationship between fashion and culture”.
I’m holding my breath!!! If only NYC was accessible again … perhaps it might just be 😉 It’s also nice to see both my mamas in the one photo opportunity.
Note: Okay so you are probably tired with the “I’m-always-working” excuse but hey the machinations of Capitalism really catch up with you. The constant nine-to-five can be quite numbing but in return you’re showered with sweet, sweet dollars. And who would ever refuse that?? So now is when you ask me, what has been my relationship with fashion since the past few months? My relationship with fashion is amazing. I have come to know it from the bottom of the “pit”. How everyday people interact with it…what a blessing! Oh and at least I have started posting again 🙂
