Winter is here for Australian fashionistos and yes, all the major fashion houses are starting to drop their pre-fall and early picking of their FW12/13 in store. I’m sharing with you my favourite collection for FW 12/13. And of course there was no bias involved.
I thrill at the fact that the cold season will feature astrakhan collared coats, double collars, double-breasted suits buttoned high, pinstriped jackets with a flower in the buttonhole and bendy butanol-soled oxfords. Of course this well all trickle down too through the “cerulean effect – I just wonder which details the high street will pick up.
Exciting stuff, no? I love that red collared shirt with the negative and positive gun print!!!! Power dressing for the man is back!!!!

There is nothing better for a fashionist(eau) than to own a piece from the runway. A runway piece heralds a fashion house’s creativity, identity and sense of uniqueness. Here are my favourite pieces from Spring Summer 12.
Okay so the last image is almost impossible but a gay boy can dream, right?
Rumour has it some of these pieces will be on sale very soon. So keep your fingers firm on the fashion pulse!

As if having the desire to be back in Hong Kong was not enough – I just had to run into these images styled by budding young NYC fashion designer Ryan Jordan for the Any Old Iron boutique located in the Lower East Side. You all know how much I love NYC; the rush, the fashion, thrills and spills and not to mention the bounty of good looking gentleman. This shoot has all of it. Here are some of the images that struck me the most.
Titled “X-Treme Ends of Desire” the shoot focusses heavily on New York fashion’s mix of grunge, high and low end and is finished with true NYC signature. Designer Ryan Jordan also used dispoable photography to capture the fashion moments. He explains why – “Experimenting with disposable cameras has inspired his heart to take it to a form that removes itself from the tourist connotations. Shooting with a disposable camera pays closer attention to the relationship of your eye and the lens. Taking in the moment without having time to judge the photograph through a digital screen makes for some old school magic”.
Raw and unapologetic the shoot reminds us of a past where taking the actual fashion photograph was less about a glamourous, highly stylised moment and instead about the capture of a detail so subtle, think Man Ray and Cecil Beaton. Do you know that feeling when you get back from an amazing holiday and everything you do is “anti-climactic”? I’ve recently been going through that feeling, so to knock myself out of it I invited a friend out to lunch in Erskineville where we could soak up the beautiful autumn sun Sydney has been blessed with lately. What a perfect day it was to break out one of my favourite shirts, my Orri Henrisson Edouard’s mix shirt worn under my Prada suit. It was an occasion, me breaking out of jet-lag and apathy, so I donned my best.
It also gave me the chance to take my Jil Sander market tote (SS11) which I recently purchased in Hong Kong. The way that it captures the sunlight and luminates makes me so happy. A bag I’ve been lusting since it first appeared on the runway, I’ve thought to myself that it would be my token of Raf Simons’ amazing work at the house of Jil Sander. Mentioning also that I’m currently fascinated with petrochemical orange and the tote just happened to be that colour! Don’t you just love when things sync!?!
Suit, shoes and belt by Prada. Shirt by Orri Henrisson. Bag by Jil Sander.
Let’s hope I’m fully synced to Sydney and my normal routine by the time I go back to work next week! Fingers crossed!
